Minnesota Open
U of Mn Fieldhouse
January 16, 2016
This meet marked a great beginning to the women's competition. Few of the men competed in the Minnesota open, the Northwest Open marks the opening of their season. The meet was marked by a great weight throw by Allie Heifort moving her to the top 10 throws list and winning a letter. Lyndsey Thorpe continues to demonstrate her mastery of the weight winning the event at 19.72. This puts her in the top 20 of the NCAA D1 according to Direct athletics. Looking forward to the rest of the season from the women thrower. Going to be FABULOUS, I am sure.
Heta Turi won the high jump. Kaley Sabin won the shot put. Emerald Egwin took the 200 meters. Liz Berkholz took the mile. The 4X400 relay team won that event. Emma Spagnola won the hurdles.
On the men's side, Gian Ferritti arrived back on campus on time to compete and take first in the weight throw. Gemechu Godi took first in the 60 meter sprint. Eric Walker, running unattached, took first in the 800.
As always full details of the meet are available at Gopher Sports.
